  • Manual Therapy

Therapeutic treatment of the soft tissues of the body to decrease pain, improve mobility, balance the nervous system and restore lost function. Erik is highly skilled in myofascial release and other Osteopathic-based treatment methods from years of continuing education and practice.

Myofascial Release aims to improve the function of fascia, a system that surrounds and supports our bones, muscles, nerves, organs, and blood vessels. Injury or stress in this system can cause the fascia to become damaged overtime. The fascia may develop adhesions within causing motion restrictions of the tissue. This can manifest itself in a whole host of symptoms due to the body’s connection of the fascial system and its communication with our nervous system.

  • Visceral Manipulation

Visceral Manipulation (VM) was developed by Jean Pierrre Barral, DO (France) in the 1970’s and is the use of specific placement of soft manual forces onto the abdomen to encourage normal mobility, tone and motion of the viscera (internal organs) and their connective tissues. By using specific techniques, practitioners can evaluate how abnormal forces interplay, overlap and affect the normal function of the body. The goal of VM is to help the body regain more normal organ mobility by removing these abnormal stress from trauma; surgical or non surgical, inflammatory and other sources. Effects can be global, improving function in other areas of the body as well. These gentle manipulations can potentially improve the functioning of individual organs, the systems the organs function within, and the structural integrity of the entire body.

Visceral manipulation can help with many different areas of pain, digestive dysfunction, hormone imbalances, stress and anxiety and more.

  • Craniosacral Therapy and Neural Manipulation

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) was developed by Dr. John Upledger, DO in the 1980’s but has been a part of research and treatment within the Osteopathic profession since the early 20th century. CST is a gentle, hands-on approach to relieve pain and dysfunction by manipulating the soft tissues surrounding the central nervous system.  Through skillful palpation throughout the body, the therapist is able to identify and treat restrictions in the head, spine, and tailbone that will assist in recovery.

Neural Manipulation (NM) was developed by Dr. Barral, DO (France) and is an effective way to release restrictions within the peripheral nerves and their connective tissue attachments. Both NM and CST work to balance the nervous system to allow it to function more normally, often resolving your pain or area of dysfunction. Some of the conditions that may benefit from these modalities include: headache, tinnitus, dizziness, brain fog, symptoms of autism, earache, arm or leg pain, GI problems, lower back pain and more!
